Videos Buffering When VPN is On

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having issues recently with playing videos on my browser while Mullvad VPN is on. This is the first time it’s happening; I am usually able to watch videos without any problem. Some additional details:

- I am using Firefox + uBlock. Even when I switch to Chrome, videos still do not play.

- I have tried disabling hardware acceleration on Firefox, which did not fix anything.

- I have tried adding Firefox to excluded apps in split tunneling, but it does not work. The videos will always buffer and never as long as the VPN is on. As soon as I disable it and reload the page, the videos can play.

- I have tried playing around with the VPN protocols. Still no thing.

- This seems to only be an issue on my computer. When I enable Mullvad on my android and watch YouTube, everything is alright.

- I have tried to reinstall Mullvad as well as the browser extension.

I’m starting to go crazy trying to figure out what’s wrong.

For what it is worth, I have no problem watching YouTube on PC with Mullvad.

But my setup is likely different than yours: my Mullvad connection is on my gateway router with a Wireguard connection to Mullvad. The router controls which devices on my local network connect to the internet through Mullvad.

My suggestion would be to try a different Mullvad server in the same country, or even servers in different countries to see if the problem goes away.

Nevermind guys, all good now. Randomly started working again. No idea what happened :person_shrugging:

Hi there. Try to see if you have obfuscation on. That’s been causing problems lately. Turn it off if you can. Also if you use kaspersky by any chance, try to disable it as well. They specifically said it on their website that kaspersky causes problems for mullvad. Try these 2 things. Hopefully it will work.

Try changing MTU to 1280 in the app.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. Obfuscation is already off, and I do not use Kaspersky. Still nothing :frowning:
