guys, what’s the best and smoothest-working VPN for iphone? I usually used proton VPN on my mac and the app worked extremely smoothly but it’s buggy on my iphone, leading me to look for a VPN service that works well on my phone. Anybody have any suggestions on the most versatile VPN that also works seamlessly on iPhone (and perhaps iPad as well?). Going to be using it for streaming mainly.
my favorites have always been surfshark and mullvad. I use them on several different operating systems including ios devices and have no complaints whatsoever. Has never not worked; the only complaint would be that sometimes the Mullvad servers get caught by spam filters and I have to prove I’m not a robot on Google but other than it’s been fine.
proton VPN isn’t good even on Mac in my experience, don’t know how you can describe it as smooth but the service itself is alright. On iPhone/ios devices you should check out:
- Surfshark
- Mullvad
- Express VPN
- Cyberghost VPN
- NordVPN
Mullvad is actually probably the best as far as service goes but it freezes up on me often when using it on mac. I think the same thing happens on iphone as well but haven’t tested it enough to confirm.
always found mullvad to be reliable on my iphone 13 pro max and have been using it for over a year now almost weekly. Lots of payment options and they protect your privacy.
I don’t use iphone anymore but last year when I used Surfshark VPN + an Iphone, it worked just as well as surfshark with my current phone (samsung galaxy s23). I also used it for netflix most of the time.
Are you realistically going to be streaming video all that often from your iphone? From an iPad I get, but your phone battery will drain so quickly from using netflix + a VPN, it doesn’t really make sense to do. The best VPN for iphone (browsing, wouldn’t know for anything else) is mullvad.
I still think surfshark and pure are best for ios devices (and android devices too). They are too easy to use on mobile and (almost) never get blocked.
I’ve tested nord vpn on both android and iphone and it has been pretty good. Use it for Hulu and Disney plus pretty often. Sometimes i do have to play around with the servers to find one that works consistently, but in general it has been worth it!
how can you be certain that the issue isn’t with your iPhone? I have had experience with most VPNs on iOS devices and very rarely has a VPN ever been slow or glitchy. It definitely hasn’t been the case with proton VPN which has generally been very stable for me.
I know it doesn’t get mentioned very often but cyberghost is super underrated. I actually like to use the VPN’s that are talked about less since there is less abuse of the servers. Means I don’t get asked every two minutes to prove I’m not a robot. Plus, it’s quite affordable I’d say and for the most part the support has proven to be decent.
I would be happy to recommend Blokada 6 as a solid & privacy-friendly VPN.
Blokada is a popular ad blocker application that also offers a VPN service.
One of the main advantages of the Blokada VPN of the Blokada VPN is that it is integrated with the Blokada Adblocker, which makes things simpler. Additionally, it doesn’t keep any logs of your online activity by default, which further enhances your privacy.

New here … and to vpn’s. My question what vpn guarantees me the best protection from my spying roommate? We have WiFi here that is in his name. A few years ago I caught her using Android Sheep, and some other packet grabbers to see all of my internet business. Nothing malicious just nosey. She’s very smart with phones and computers. I know she can see what I’m doing using our WiFi. Which one will keep my iPhone browsing and whatnot from her seeing it ? Thx
When selecting a VPN for your iPhone, several key considerations can help you make an informed choice. Firstly, prioritize security features. Look for a VPN that offers strong encryption protocols such as AES-256 bit encryption, which ensures that your data remains private and secure. Additionally, seek a VPN that has a strict no-logs policy, meaning it doesn’t store your online activity, ensuring your digital footprint remains confidential. Multi-platform support is another crucial factor, allowing you to use the same VPN on your other devices, ensuring consistent protection. Lastly, consider the VPN’s server network. A wide range of servers in various locations can provide you with more options for bypassing geo-restrictions and accessing content from around the world.
Also think about user-friendliness. A VPN with an intuitive and easy-to-use iPhone app will make your online security experience hassle-free. Speed is also vital; opt for a VPN that doesn’t significantly slow down your internet connection, ensuring smooth browsing and streaming. Finally, affordability matters. While some VPNs offer free versions, premium options typically provide enhanced features and better performance. Weigh the cost against the features you require to strike a balance between value and functionality, ultimately ensuring you have a reliable and secure VPN experience on your iPhone.
Second Mullvad though I always feel concerned not seeing VPN near my wifi bar although settings & whatsmyip swear the shit is connected
I’m glad that your VPN works on all devices the same but it’s not always like that. I’ve encountered many apps (not just VPN’s) that perform way different on mobile compared to desktop.
I have used Mullvad VPN in the past. It’s a nice service for sure but kind of limited in my opinion. Also, aren’t Nord and express VPN basically the same service at this point? Those VPN’s are equally bad, I’d never use them again.
It is smooth on Mac for me. Have you updated to the latest OS or are you using an older device? that may contribute to you having a poorer experience with it.
Does it ever detect that you are using a VPN when you have the server set to the USA? I haven’t tried it with surfshark yet but I do know that it can be an issue on certain VPNs and just wanna make sure I can avoid that..
uhhh yes? I have an iPhone 14 pro max and the battery life is crazy good. On top of that I also use an external battery just in case I dip below 30% but that almost never happens. Keep in mind I often stream video 1-2 hours at a time and often with a VPN turned on.
I often use a VPN on my Iphone from streaming. Believe it or not its actually quite common, on the bus, in the train, at home, at work (lol). A good VPN is a must if you want to be streaming netflix from the USA. Mullvad is cool but not enough geo’s for my liking. I do prefer surfshark.
